QICENT Charging Station Review

We’ve been using the QICENT Charging Station for charging our devices at night. It’s nice to have one place to plug everything into and not need multiple plugs (and iPad wall warts) in a power strip. Everything gets neatly plugged into this dock. It seems to have good charging speed and a nice design.
I do have a couple of issues with this device. First, the space provided to cradle the phone is not wide enough for our iPhones with Otterbox cases. Perhaps if one had a thin (or no) case, it would work well. Second, and more importantly, it’s annoying to have the USB plugs on the back of the device. If you turn around the device, then the power cord is sticking out 3-4 inches. I’m not sure why they designed it in this manner, except to have their name easily viewable, but I don’t like that part of it.

RenGard Jump-Starter Power Station Review

I had to replace the battery in my truck a couple of months ago, so I really could have used this RenGard Jump-Starter Power Station at that time. However, I did run down the battery (by leaving my headlights on for several hours) and tried jump starting it with this device. My first attempt failed. I checked the connections and tried again, but it still didn’t work. I finally realized I still had the headlights one (not that they were shining very brightly by this time). Once I turned them off, my next jump start attempt succeeded! I’m not sure why, but I was a little dubious that this product would work. It exceeded my expectation and worked quite well.

MyPhaser X10 Stun Gun Review

I’m one of those weird people who’ve always wondered what it would be like to be tazed. So when I decided to test the MyPhaser X10 Stun Gun, I knew I was going to be the testee. Begrudgingly, my wife finally agreed to use it on me. Let me tell ya something; this will definitely get your attention. I’m not lying; it hurt…and that was with only a one second jolt! If you use this on an attacker, I’m confident it will stun them long enough for you to make an escape. The only thing I don’t like is you can’t have it in flashlight and stun mode at the same time. Still, I would consider this an effective self-defense item.

eHouse Ultrasonic Pest Control Review

I was talking with one of our neighbors just after I received this product. I learned they had been dealing with a bug infestation for several days. Since they specifically mentioned fleas (and the description of this product mentions fleas), I thought they would be the perfect people to test this for me. After having it plugged in for one week, they reported no relief from their bug invasion. Since we currently aren’t having a similar issue, this is the feedback I have to listen to.

Since this was not tested on rodents, I’ve chosen to not give this product a lower rating than three stars since it’s still possible for it to be effective for this primary purpose.

Universal Rapid Wall Charger from Renegade Cases Review

Who can’t use another charger? I like to have one in every room, if possible, and even have a spare one at work (have to use a charger because our USB ports are locked down).

That’s why I’m pleased to review the Universal Rapid Wall Charger from Renegade Cases.

This charger functions well. It’s a bit larger than most you’ll see included with a phone, but it’s not so large that it blocks a second outlet, so this is not a problem.

What I like about this charger is the red ring (I call it the bling ring) which is lit whenever the device is charging, and goes out whenever the device is fully charged. This eliminates having to check your device repeatedly to see if it’s charged. So it’s bling, but it’s functional bling and a great idea.

Don’t want to forget the included 5 foot charging cable (which one can never have too many of). The first time I plugged it in, I did receive a message that said it’s not certified and may not work reliably with my iPhone. I only saw the message once, so I’m not concerned about it. Heck, I’ve received the same message with Apple’s cables before. Probably just needed to reboot the phone.

I will continue to use this item and update this review, if necessary.
